Ornament by Local Artist Will be Displayed at the Library of Congress
______________________________(name), resident of ____________________(city), is one of the 306 decorative artists who hand painted an ornament that will be displayed on the holiday tree this year at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. The Library of Congress is the largest library in the world, and houses the United States Copyright Office.
With the theme “Creativity Across America”, each artist designed and painted a wooden book as an ornament representing their state. The ornaments measure about 4”x7”, and are completely American-made. Artists from all 50 states participated in the project, creating a wonderful new collection of ornaments to grace the tree. State symbols, state songs, and state birds were featured, along with natural and historical features of the states.
All participating artists are invited to attend a ceremony at the Library of Congress on December 14th . The tree will be on display from the beginning of December through the first week of January, and is open to the public.
