Library of Congress Holiday Celebration
December 14th, 2005
Thomas Jefferson Building
11 am
The Library of Congress is holding their annual Holiday Celebration and all the participating ornament artists are invited to attend. The event is open to the public. The doors will open at 10 am and the Celebration will start at 11 am in the Great Hall of the Jefferson Building in front of the tree. The ceremony is usually an hour long. You may bring your family/friends.
We hope you will join us and be able to view all the fantastic ornaments painted by painters from around the country. Every state is represented, and all 309 ornaments submitted will be displayed.
We will take a group photo with Dr. James H. Billington, the Librarian of Congress. The Master of Ceremony will acknowledge the artist donations. The format is storytelling by Dr. Billington, the LOC Chorale, two sing alongs, two Little Scholars songs, and Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be handing out candy. No food or beverage will be served. If group photos can be organized we will try and have that at the end of the program.
Certificates will be MAILED to each artist after the ceremony. They will not be distributed at the event.
Also, there is a link to a short press release at the top of the page. Copy it, fill in the info pertaining to yourself, and send it to your local paper. They may contact you for an interview! Many have done this. If you are successful at getting an article in your local paper, could you send me a copy? I would appreciate it!
Many are asking about where to stay in Washington DC. Several of us have booked rooms at the downtown Holiday Inn on 14th Street. The rooms start at $99 there. Their website: http://www.hidowntowndc.com/
